I’m fundamentally lazy. I want to do only the things that are intrinsically motivating to me. The prospect of financial gain is nothing compared to my intense desire to follow my innate curiosity.
An example:
I often get sidetracked with researching when I do cold calling (B2B booking). I should focus on the volume, but studying the businesses is much more interesting than making the calls.
“What would you do if you didn’t have to think about money ever again?”
I would learn, read books, and make music. With that as a metric for occupational satisfaction, I’m already fairly successful.
It occurred to me that I’m doing research and development (R&D). I produce music, expand my knowledge base, and think original thoughts. Until the day people want to pay me to continue doing what I do, I’ll be the one who pays.
Thank God I can borrow dollars against the BTC I bought over the years. I have ample time to sit in my favorite armchair and read Michel Houellebecq.
